Chippenham Sports Club In-House Skittles League Rules
• 1 The League is open to Teams of Male or Female Club members or any combination of both.
• 2 For a Match a Team may comprise of up to 12 participating players. Each player must be a fully paid up Club Member. A Team may have more than 12 Registered players. At the start of the Season a Registration form will be supplied for each Team to fill in. Further names can be added throughout the Season by making a note on your score sheet.
• 3 Match Fees for the 2007/2008 Season are as follows –
£4.00 per Team over the Bar for every Match played, ie league and cup Competitions.
£4.00 per Team given to Stickers up for every Match played.
Competition Fees Stand at £1.00 per player per competition.
• 4 Matches will be played between Teams comprising 6 Players. League matches will be of 2 games of 3 Legs per game played on the same evening. After the first game any number of registered players up to 6 may be substituted for the second game.
First Match to Start by 7.30pm. In the Event of a Team not being present, there will be no Toss and the present Team will start. Should the other Team not turn up ready to play the continuing leg 3’s will be awarded until they do turn up.
The Second match will start by 9pm on the same basis as above.
The first named Team in the fixture is in effect the home Team and should provide a chalker to do the board. This is unless Captains on the night agree otherwise.
NB The Chalker should keep the game flowing.
• 5 Teams playing with less than 6 players will be allowed 3 pins per leg for each player missing.
This applies only to league Matches. No allowance will be made in Nomination Front Pin First or KO Cup Matches.
A Sticker-up will not be allowed to play for your Team unless he/she is a registered
Player with your Team.
A Player can only play for one Team.
• 6 In the event of players arriving late, they will be allowed to play and score each leg providing that the third leg of their turn has not been reached. Otherwise they will be awarded 3’s
• 7 Bowling off is restricted to one player only from each Team under the following conditions -
It must be on the day of the Match
It must be prior to the Match starting
The opposing Team Captain, a League Official or a member of Bar Staff must be informed.
Bowling off must be witnessed, scores entered on the Official Results Sheet, signed by the Witness and handed behind the Bar.
If six registered players turn up from the Team, the bowled off scores are not to be used.
• 8 Scoring League Matches –
Official Score sheets must be filled in for every match.
Please Total the various cols and fill in for any Spares so that these items are recorded for prizes at the end of the season.
2 Points for the winner of each Leg
( shared for draws )
1 Point for the higher total first three legs ( shared for draws )
1 Point for the higher total second three legs ( shared for draws )
1 Point for the higher overall total Pins (shared for draws )
Maximum points obtainable per match = 15
• 9 Scoring Cup Matches -
Official score sheets must be filled in for every match
Nomination Front Pin First Cup and KO Cup will be decided on the total pin score over six legs. Reserve players may be substituted after the first 3 Legs. In the case of a draw after 6 legs an extra Leg/s will be played to decide the winner

You must hit down the front pin first and then you must nominate the pin you will hit with each or any other ball, this does not have to be a pin which is left closest to you. If you achieve a spare you do not have to hit the front pin again unless you nominate to do so.
• 10 The League Competition will be decided on total points scored. In the event of a Tie, the result
will be decided on the basis of number of games Won / Drawn / Lost
• 11 Match postponements.
League Matches
It is the responsibility of the Captains to ensure that they have a Team available to play their fixtures within the Rules as published. Teams have been asked for information regarding availability for the team and the fixtures have been done as far as possible to fit the criteria.
Only one postponement per Team will be allowed in each half season. The only allowances to this rule will be exceptional circumstances. In the case of a Postponement the two Captains should aim to mutually agree to play on the next available spare alley date by discussion with Andy Thatcher – Fixture Secretary.
In the case of a Postponement the opposition must be notified as well as Christine Neal Match Secretary 01249 657340 who will cancel the Sticker-up and Andy Thatcher Fixture Secretary/ Club Steward 01249 652867 Clubhouse, or 07950 842365 Mobile should be notified as early as possible.
Cup Matches
At the time of Draw, the Fixture Secretary will attempt to fit your fixture to your Teams playing criteria within the competition dates. If your Team cannot play, your opposition will get a bye through to the next round. No postponements will be allowed for cup competitions. Cup Games as far as possible will be drawn and published as part of the main fixture list.
In the case of Single, Double, Ladies, Threes Comps etc. entrants must be in attendance for the duration of the Competitions, there is to be no playing off and leaving.
• 12 It was voted on and passed by a large majority that we will move back to using the Larger Balls for this Season.
• 13 A Copy of these Rules will go to each Captain and be posted on the NoticeBoard. A further NoticeBoard will be erected so that information can be looked at whilst Skittles are being played. The Alley Coat Rack will not be used whilst Skittles are being played.
• 14 In the event of a pin/pins falling over and then returning to an upright position within the
diamond, they will be deemed still in play and will not be removed.
Any Ball which hits either side of the Alley or the end wall prior to hitting a skittle is a no ball
and any skittles knocked down will be replaced.
Any skittle or ball that knocks down a skittle leaves the diamond and hits a side or end wall
and returns to the diamond knocking over further pins ( on a rebound ) does not count and such knocked
down skittles will be replaced
